Flag off ceremony for Distribution of Cash Transfer Beneficiaries identity cards was performed at the Kebbi Government House by Her Excellency Wife of the Executive Governor of Kebbi State, Dr. Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu, on Monday 27th of May 2019 .
The wife of the governor commended efforts of the federal government in ensuring that the programme becomes live in the State.
She also assured that the state government under the leadership of Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu will continue to support the programme, among other pro-poor interventions in the State to uplift lives of people.
The Commissioner of Women Affairs & Social Development Haj. Tsahara Bawa called on the beneficiaries to ensure effective utilisation of the funds to be received in productive manners.
State Coordinator and Focal Person of the programmes, Hon. Usman Buhari Ali Gwandu, informed that the benefiting local government areas are drawn in sequence using the World Bank selection index – poverty mapping profile, while community based targeting is used in selecting beneficiaries to form the State Social Register of the Poor and Vulnerable Households.
He also disclosed that the local government areas selected for the pilot intervention are Jega & Gwandu for Kebbi Central, Bagudo & Dandi for Kebbi North, and Danko Wasagu & Shanga for Kebbi South.
Total of 21,800 beneficiaries were selected from 18 wards in the local government areas for this round and will be receiving N5,000 monthly.
Beneficiaries selection in other wards and local government areas will continue in due course.
Some Beneficiaries drawn from the participating local government areas witnessed the event and collected their identity cards for subsequent disbursement expected to commence in June 2019.
The programme is one of the Social Investment Programmes of the federal government and supported by the state government.
